A week has passed to analyze and digest the events at the Tea Party Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, and I have come to several conclusions which may put me at odds with many conservatives, Libertarians, Republicans, and Tea Party people alike.

One fact that I think can be agreed upon is conservatives and Republicans come in all different flavors, and there are some issues which people will have irreconcilable differences forever fracturing the GOP.

One thing must be made clear-there will never be a perfect candidate for President or any other public office. It is not possible.

The GOP is fractured in three main bodies of thought I believe. There are the mainstream Ronald Reagan Republicans who believe in a strong defense, low taxes, smaller government, believe in the Divine sanctity of life and marriage, and who believe in keeping strong ties with strategic allies.

Most evangelical Christians make up this faction of the GOP, including those who believe that Israel must be supported because of the historical, cultural and religious importance to do so.

The second faction of the GOP is the John McCain (who I affectionately call McCant) Republicans. Similar in some aspects of the Ronald Reagan branch yet very different in approach and end results of policies.

Soon after the Nashville convention John “McCant’s” daughter appeared on ABC’s The View and openly described herself as a “progressive Republican”.

I think that pretty much says it all about her father; the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Upon hearing her statement I had acid reflex for the rest of the day and had to consume a whole bottle of Tums.

John “McCant” can be summed up as a progressive/liberal lite. Although, a true patriot in respect to defense and the military his Teddy Roosevelt style progressivism and pragmatism is toxic to the GOP and the country in general.

On the issues of border security, global warming, unconstitutional government programs, and free trade, anyone who aligns themselves with this man or these views will forever be doomed in GOP politics and will doom the GOP itself.

Finally, there are the Ron Paul loyalists; a combination of disenchanted Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents. I think it is Ron Paul who is the true ‘maverick’, not John “McCant”.

The political philosophy of Ron Paul supporters is Jeffersonian libertarianism with a strong dose of conspiracy theory rhetoric. I have not met a Ron Paul supporter yet who is not a “truther” and most I have encountered (not all) have anti-Semitic, Zion-conspiracy leanings.

On the Constitutional basis for ending the Federal Reserve and reinstituting the gold standard I can completely agree upon, and I think most Constitutional Republicans would.

However, there will never be a consensus on the issues of foreign aid and policy, and most dear to the hearts of many evangelicals support of Israel.

Also, there is the issue of how much authority does the Federal Government versus state government have in regards to the issues concerning abortion and gay-marriage.

A true ‘literal’ Constitutionalist would say Ron Paul is right, while, for lack of a better term, a ‘morality driven evangelical’ Constitutionalist would say the Federal Government must recognize the Divine sanctity of life and marriage, and we as a nation must support the Jewish state of Israel on Biblical principle.

The argument for this can be made because our Founding Documents and Founding Fathers were rooted in Biblical, Judeo-Christian values; and much of our Constitution, heritage, Christian Faith and morals have Jewish roots.

If these issues by themselves are not resolved between the different factions of the GOP and Independent voters the Republican Party will be forever splintered no matter how many Tea Party Conventions are held.

If the GOP wants to continue to be a political force to be reckoned with and taken seriously, and not fall prey as the Whig Party did, which was the forerunner of the GOP, these issues must be resolved.

So what or who is the answer? Many of you may hold this against me but I believe Sarah Palin is NOT the answer. Don’t get me wrong. I love Sarah! I love her as a person, a Christian, and patriot.

She is a lady of great virtue and potential, and I think is a magnificent role model for women, especially those who have political aspirations.

My dream job for her would be to replace Michael Steele and clean out the GOP leadership of John “McCant” types. There is only one problem. Sarah will forever be indebted to John “McCant”.

If not for him she would never have the recognition or popularity she does today. If Sarah has any hope to become President or even a Senator she needs to stand on her own and distance herself as fast and as far away from John “McCant” and his types as possible.

With that said, who knows who or what the next two years bring before the inevitable political onslaught of Presidential primary campaigning begins. I figure if a “clean”, “light-colored”, “articulate” black man with no “negro dialect” or no real executive or real life experience, and only a few months as a U.S. Senator can be President, maybe a former Army officer, who happens to be a white guy that drives a pick-up, and has a few more months of Senatorial experience can be President. We shall see.
